The national acclaimed music director and lyricist Hamsalekha has finally lived to his earlier announcement. He is producing the film with the first year batch of his Desi College degree and post graduation. That is ‘Bhagavathi Kaadu’ an art film based on the novel with the same name written by Kum Veerabhadrappa.

On Monday morning at the Park just opposite to his house and College Hamsalekha held the muhurath in simple and effective style.

The 300 year old Neem Tree situated at Nagapura Marenahalli in Hospet Taluk of Bellary is the cynosure of ‘Bhagavathi Kaadu’ made by Hamsalekha Images Private Limited.

Nearly 30 plus characters holding the letters of the Kannada Alphabet faced the camera for the first shot on a sunny morning for ‘Bhagavathi Kaadu’ as the song ‘Hanebaraha Yembudella sullu….Hidi Beku Maklu Berlu….was played. Vice President of KFCC BN Gangadhar switched on the camera and Zee TV prominent personality Shekar sounded the clap board. Hamsalekha is scoring music for this film and lyrics are written by Dr KY Narayanaswamy and Prof SG Siddaraiamah.

Dr Girish Kasaravalli has suggested some changes to the script to director K Shivarudaiah who made ‘Daatu’ last year. Taking voluntary retirement from government service Shivarudraiah is shooting this film in 25 days at the hottest spot of Karnataka that has the ancient neem tree. Some of his real life recordings Shivarudaiah have been added in this period cinema that goes back to 1970-1973. ‘Megha Varshini’ of Shivarudriah is yet to hit the screens. It is after seeing ‘Daatu’, Hamsalekha invited Shivarudraiah to direct a film. As a matter of fact the ‘Environment’ is the main stress of this film ‘Bhagavathi Kaadu’. Hamsalekha has the intentions of making three films in the coming three years when the first batch of graduation comes to an end.

It is a challenge to shoot in the hot sun at Hospet says, top notch cameraman S Ramachandra. “I know the working pattern of director Shivarudraiah. He is basically a photographer and in ‘Daatu’, I saw his cool temperament at work”, complimented S Ramachandra.
